Mary-Jeanne Phelan is a partner with law firm McCarthy Tétrault LLP. Her practice involves advising corporate and institutional clients on banking, commercial lending, project finance, securitization, derivative instruments, equipment finance and all forms of debt transactions.
In 1994, Mary-Jeanne received her B.A. (first class joint honours in History and English) from McGill University, followed by an LL.B. from the Université de Montréal in 1997 and a master’s degree in international commercial law (M. Juris) at Oxford University in 1998. She was called to the Québec and the New York State Bars in 2000.
Mary-Jeanne can claim Irish heritage on both sides of her family. Her paternal great-great grandfather James Phelan emigrated from county Kilkenny in 1849, and her maternal great-grandfather John Brothers left county Derry in 1883.
